The new home of the Slow movement. That puts you one click away from joining a revolution that is already helping people all over the world work, play and live better by slowing down. We need a Slow Movement now more than ever. Our fast-forward culture has turned every moment into a race against the clock and the constant rush is taking a toll on everything from our diet, health and work to our relationships, communities and the environment. The Slow Movement offers a real lifeline. The idea is NOT to do everything at the speed of a snail. Let’s be honest: faster is often better than slower. We promise that the pages on Slow Planet will always load as quickly as possible! But there are also times when slowing down is the best option. Remember the story of the tortoise and the hare. Being Slow means living at the right speed. And that means giving each task the time and attention it deserves; being more creative and productive; forging deeper connections with the people around us; defending the environment instead of destroying it; living life rather than rushing through it. Slow puts quality before quantity in everything we do: work, sex, parenting, travel, design, food, medicine, you name it. The Slow Movement does not seek to turn back the clock to some lost golden age. It is a very modern revolution that learns from the past while embracing the future. Slow is spreading fast, but the philosophy is not carved in stone. All over the world, people are debating what it really means to be Slow and exchanging ideas about how best to decelerate. We hope that Slow Planet will become the global forum for that conversation. Slow Planet is a work in progress. We want you, the citizens of Slow Planet, to help shape the way the site and our community evolve. How should the forums be run? Which leading Slow thinkers would you like to see blog here? Which groups deserve special status on the site? Into what other languages should Slow Planet be translated in the future? All of your thoughts and suggestions are welcome. This is the first step of a thrilling journey. Become a citizen of Slow Planet and help change the world. |
